The
normal emotional response to physical pain is anger. Conversely, anger held in the body creates an
overload of energy that is felt as physical pain.
It is
still difficult for most people to make associations even between what they eat
and how their body functions.
The
acupuncture meridian system consists of twelve primary channels of energy that,
if you hold your arms above your head, run vertically through the body; six of
them terminate in the hands and six in the feet. They energize twelve different organs, some
of which are not recognized in Western medicine, and they seem to have a
functional but not a physical reality in the body. They also energize the tissues through which
they pass, and they influence and are influenced by the emotions. They come in
pairs, which balance and complement each other.
There is both constitutional qi, the energy we are born with, and
conditional qi, the energy we bring into our body on a daily basis with what we
eat and drink, how we breathe, how we think, how we feel, and the environment
in which we place ourselves.
